Frequently Asked Questions

What is ruka flow?

RUKA Flow is the first of our signature fitness classes. It is a moderate intensity, breath-to-movement fitness method designed to improve mobility, strength, and mental clarity.

What do you mean by “muslim friendly”?

All RUKA fitness spaces are designed with Muslim needs in mind. Our classes and fitness spaces are segregated and private, meaning women can exercise in a safe space (and don’t even have to wear hijab!).

We also avoid music and instead utilize “halal audios”, or tracks that feature vocals and daf only. We promise it sounds just as fun and energetic as a regular fitness class!

Our signature classes are also carefully and intentionally designed to ensure they do not conflict with faith-based values.

Lastly, all of our spaces request a modest dress code that is detailed below…

What is your dress code?

Our dress code requires that all attendees cover the area between the naval (belly-button) and the knees as mandated within Islam. This applies to both men and women. Yes, even in spaces that are segregated.

This ensures all our attendees can feel comfortable in our environment and we thank you for helping us achieve that.

Women who observe hijab are free to uncover once they are in class as we ensure our spaces are private enough to comfortably do so!

Is RUKA FLow just “muslim yoga”?

RUKA Flow actually spans several areas of fitness because we intentionally designed it to maximize benefits within one class.

Like Yoga and Pilates, it falls under Flexibility and Mobility, helping improve range of motion. It also belongs in Mind-Body Fitness, where you’ll find practices like Tai Chi that connect movement, breath, and mental wellness.

Finally, parts of RUKA Flow cross into Muscular Conditioning, building strength through targeted circuits. So while RUKA Flow shares some structural similarities with Yoga (like being breath-led and meditative at times), it is its own method, not yoga.

What should i bring to class?

Dress comfortable for moderate movement. You may sweat, so feel free to also bring a small towel. Bring water!

Our studios have mats for you to use, but you are always welcome to bring your own!

What is your cancellation policy?

While we do not provide refunds for cancellations of our classes, you are welcome to reschedule to a later date if needed at no additional charge.

You can reschedule your class up to 12 hours prior to the class start time. If you can no longer attend the class and don’t want to reschedule, we still would appreciate if you could send us an email letting us know so we can offer the spot to someone else. Please email us at hello@rukafitness.com.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
